Now, our rhythm of progress has changed.  after rides that were easy, we are now on difficult slopes. After we had mastered the route from Xpujil to Chablé almost like gazelles we reach the Chiapa region and that means mountains. Actually we wanted to finally start the slopes, but soon we noticed the suffering. Luckily, our friends gave some little support for the difficult stages, such as the balm from Cindy and Laura, the salmon from George Ann and Gabriel, the card game of Fer, the nutritional food from Doña Panchita and Don José, the bottles full of cool water from Juan Manuel and family.... Thank You! All this makes driving easier.
The accommodations also help us on our journey. We sleep in schools, dining rooms for children, civil defense, etc., that way one can travel! Even though it is not always easy during the day, at about 4 0'clock we have achieved our goal and stop for the day preparing a good coffee and rest, as we deserve it.
Since we made the first entry in our blog, we passed quite a few rivers, something we had missed in Yucatan. Of course we bathed in one or the other rivers. The first bath was in a river in Mamantel, which was quite fast-flowing because of all the rain. Nevertheless, we would like this water temperature here to have in the Basque Country. The next rivers were the raging Tulija in Chiapas and the waterfalls of Agua Azul (blue), although there was no "blue" to see neither the water nor the sky had that color. The water flowed past us in a brown color. Maybe now is not the best time for a visit to Chiapas because of the rain but at least we admire a whopping vegetation. Through the rain and sweat our fingertips are curled. We drive for hours through the rain.
Apart from that, we make an interesting visit to the archaeological area of Palenque after 4 o'clock and free of charge. Exceptionally we spend the night at a campsite with temazcal (Mayan sauna), hot showers etc. A luxurious treat for us.

We notice that traveling on wheels is a healthy, enjoyable and environmentally friendly way of traveling where you can enjoy the surroundings. Like for example, when we pass a few meters away from howler monkeys, while the motorists do not even notice them. The same thing happened with the Monos Araña (a type of monkey) in Calakmul and the toucans.

DEUTSCH

Danke!
