And at the end (of the world) we arrive!!!

We are these days going to make things for the last time and we want to finally have our own habitat and not to be nomadic anymore. We would like to settle down and enjoy the comforts missing, we are homesick! Our new friend, the wind, drives us forward firmly, so we often have to slow down to avoid sharp stones on the unpaved road. And despite all the caution I have several mishaps at the rear tire in less than 10 km.
These last few days are also marked with generous hospitality: we recover from the efforts by good sleep and food at Fernando and María Luisa, the owner of Asador Patagonico, Puerto Natales. They are relatives of Rita and Jaime, who had given us shelter in Castro / Chiloé. Fernanda and Emiliano, the latter is the brother of our friend Fer in Mérida, take us on in their house in Punta Arenas and offer us even a tourist visit to the historic town. Also on the farm Armonia where we arrive before our last crossing of the border, and Leonel in Rio Grande are giving us a warm reception (which is also enjoyable because of the cold that prevails at these latitudes even in spring).

Photo 1: Our friend, the wind, which usually cannot be photographed, is captured here by us.

Photo 2: One of the last things: our last ship that takes us from Punta Arenas to Tierra del Fuego.

Before we make the final leg to Ushuaia, we stop at the bakery / pastry shop of Tolhuin that is just 104 km away from our goal. I already knew it from my first stay in Argentina. At that time I went once a week from Ushuaia to Rio Grande to work with the families of the inmates of the "Comunidad Terapéutica". The small bus stopped in front of the bakery and Patricia, Enrique (my colleagues) and I could not resist the savory pastries. In Mexico, I had arranged with Erik that we would take few sweet things until reaching Tolhuin in order to enjoy everything even more so, but we did not keep to it. During our journey, we heard in Guatemala, Peru, Bolivia and Chile from the hospitality to the cyclists in the bakery / patisserie La Union.

Photo 3: The "giraffe", which extracts the gas in Tierra del Fuego, with an impressive sky.

Photo 4: The same sky, like any other sky.

Photo 5: Patagonian forest with Antarctic illusory beeches near the Fagnano Mountain where we drink a good mate and eat tortillas.

We reach Tolhuin with aqueous mouth like the dog of Pavlov and will not be disappointed in the bakery. During the four days we rest and help with the work. We also learn firsthand some of the crafts. We also take a walk on the Fagnano Lake. In the past 14 months we have learned not to think stereotypically and are less biased than before. These are the main findings of our trip.
Photo: We make bread shoulder to shoulder, as on the whole trip.

At noon one day with wind and snow, we continue our journey and reach 24 hours later the town, which has the bay toward the east, Ushuaia. In the morning, before we reach our goal, we say goodbye to Viviana Limache at Escondido Lake. She's a friend from my time here seven years ago, who surprisingly opened the door when we asked for accommodation at the post of civil protection.Photo: Escondido Lake in the background of Fagnano Mountain. My memories deceive me or I have an active imagination. I am  often wrong when I want to tell Erik of events, landscapes or data. I realize that I now see many things differently than seven years ago, after having renewed, according biologists, during this time all my body cells and only my name has remained the same.We are deeply moved when we see the vertical sign with the name of our so much desired goal. Certainly, reaching Ushuaia is not more important than all the preceding stages, but we embrace and thank one another for all the efforts that have made this project possible. I am amazed that we have arrived healthy and expressed of all the experiences that we have gained, or saying it in another way, the experience we now carry on our backs.

Photo 10: The count of kilometers before we cross the last pass of our trip.

Photo 11: Sign at Target.

Recently Erik talked to someone who said that you cannot settle down after having started such a journey. We would like to continue traveling within the meaning of  deepening of our experience that we have made in recent months. And that way we will continue to look at this grandiose world and experience.

DEUTSCH

Play Station: circulo, rombo, cuadrado, triangulo.

Cerro Torre, Fitz Roy y demás camaradas

An ode to the wind (experimental)

Good day, wind, are you still there? Without rest? We wonder, since yesterday afternoon, we offered you a truce as you threw stones with great force in our faces and against our helmets and you were trying to tear the latter from our heads, so that we needed for 1km 20 minutes. You gave us to understand that it would be pointless to continue.
And what does it mean that you cannot even leave us in peace this morning for the usual two or three hours?
The roof of the hut where we found last night shelter, did not cease to groan under your power. There was no sense to worry about the situation of the morning, because you do what you want anyway. In order not to begin to hate you, I started thinking about what advantage your angry blowing could have. I remembered the nandu, the guanacas and the armadillos. All live in the homeland of the Tehuelche and know your habits well, so they cannot be impressed so quickly. Probably they need you. Whether that also applies to the mouse, which the night while we slept, gnawed a hole in our pocket and took away part of our provision?
Photo 1: Guanacas at dawn.
Photo 2: Armadillo.
Photo 3: Nandu
Photo 4: Fox
During these days when you have ceaselessly blown into our ears, have our hair disheveled and have caused our noses a permanent dropping, we are blown and shaken to the skin. You even dissuaded us from our direction and we have repeatedly come out of balance and thereby were at risk of falling on gravel roads as well as on asphalt. I have cursed you and many beautiful mountains, from which you blow, I could not admire. But sometimes you have also allowed us to fly. Thanks to you we've broken our own records and could one day go as fast as the good professional cyclists. On those long days when you have been with us, we sometimes travelled 90km, 120km and even 140km. In addition, you have given rise to a question: How is it possible that two cyclists, each driving in the opposite direction, believe that each one has headwind?
Photo 5.
Photo 6: PlayStation: circle, square, rhombus, rectangle, that was the funniest thing we saw that day.
Today I decided not to fight you and I remembered that you do not allow me to think, but sometimes blow songs my ear.
However, I thank you that Erik and I travel closer to one another than usual, because we use alternately the back of the other as a windbreak. We even have the verb "rebufar" formed: yo rebufo, tu rebufas. Or as reflexive verb "arrebufame", "te arrebufo". Right down to: "Listen you, I can’t keep up with you!".
Through your intense presence, wild Patagonian wind, we have the highlight of our trip achieved, just like when my mother during her trekking during the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela at 38 ° C and 20 blisters on each foot, was claiming: "Aren’t we feeling great?” Through you we have come to the conclusion that anything can be achieved. What does it matter if the 10km that we should master in 30 minutes take half a day? What is important in the end is to have patience and the right attitude to the task ahead.
If you had not so much raged, sometimes 80 km / h , Erik's luggage support would still be in a better condition and we had more time to get to our goal. In addition, we certainly not have stopped Don Arsenio, who appeared in an old van. Should we ask him to take us to the nearest paved crossroads, or should we take the difficult route of 200km on us? Luckily you have given us peace and the few trees that grow at the edge of the Cordillera have protected us during our hike of two days in El Chalten.
Photo 7: The Glacier Grande.
Photo 8: The famous Mount Torre, the Glacier Grande and the Lagoon Torre, ah ..... and I.
Photo 9: Aguja Poincenot left and the well-known Fitz Roy right.
Photo 10: Mount Torre, Fitz Roy and colleagues.
And as it could not be otherwise in this journey of the wonderful experiences that you have helped us to meet great people. Xabier, the first Basque cyclist, whom we met after about 19.500km smiling in spite of your acquaintance and the one of  your brother "Snow", even though he has managed only 3km / h. He knows that the worst will soon be over. Or the acquaintance with gauchos and ranchers who had sympathy with us on our difficult path. On their Ranchos with 2,600, 6,000 and up to 26,000 ewes with their young they always had space in their kitchen for us and told us countless stories about their work.
Photo 11: Don Segundo, the first Gaucho, who entertained us. The word "gaucho" has a positive meaning. You know the difficulties of the climate in the Pampa and they also know how to help. THEY ARE ALWAYS GOOD PEOPLE!!

DEUTSCH

Eine Ode an den Wind (Versuch)

Guten Tag, Wind, bist Du noch da? Ohne auszuruhen?
Foto 7: Der Gletscher Grande.

Me siento bien. Estamos tranquilos.

The cherry blossoms

The cherry blossoms in Los Antiguos, capital of cherries in Argentina, now switch over to green leaves. Still a few days ago we could say that the cherry trees were blooming and make a photo. When we arrived here, almost three weeks ago, it was said that the bare branches would bloom in a week. That we could not have enjoyed because our trip was supposed to be continued. But we finally decided to stay. This decision was partly due to the beautiful scenery and that the cherry blossoms were in charge. But we can say that "we also were in bloom." I had not had the menstruation for two months, so we visited a doctor in order that he might confirm my condition. We then wanted to share the good news with our families, continue the journey and later on fly home not two but three of us.
At the hospital, the pregnancy was confirmed. In the ultrasonography we could see the embryo, but not the heartbeat. After some waiting, medical appointments, ultra-sonographies, assessments and more reviews, the diagnosis was: interruption of pregnancy in the 7th - 8th week.
The doctors had different opinions on how to proceed. We decided to stay in Los Antiguos, because on the following 600km towards Ushuaia, there are very few small villages. Luckily we are in a family that understood our situation. They gave us the opportunity to work on the property in exchange for room and board. We were not alone, but with Benoit (Florie left us a few days earlier), a Frenchman, who wanted to work here for a month. After a week Nico, Argentines, arrived so our group was culturally quite different.
The days were long, but we make the story short, during analyses and tests we felt the call of the cyclist. There were only less than six weeks before a flight from Ushuaia via Buenos Aires to Madrid left and on which we had reserved two seats. El Chalten with its impressive mountain and Punta Arenas as well as friends await us and the beloved Tierra del Fuego took us at night as do sirens and reminded us how it all began and how we got here.
Since the tablets, which should bring about a natural expulsion of the dead embryo, did not bring the desired result, and since the journey had to go on, we decided to undergo surgery,a curettage.
It happened yesterday. I feel good. We are reassured. With the curettage not everything hasbeen removed, so that a little matter needs to be excreted. We have to be patient. The doctor thinks that the expulsion would happen in a natural way
We're a little impatient. On the other side of the Buenos Aires Lake, we see the mountain Castillo, at whose foot we had slept almost a month ago.
Our dreams have gone lost somehow by these events. But we are guided by a wise and positive statement of a caregiver: have ten desires, so that at least one will be fulfilled.
We will continue to do everything in our power to accept things as they come and we try to enjoy the days .
Above all, we thank life for all occasions that it offers us.
