ENGLISH

And at the end (of the world) we arrive!!!

We are these days going to make things for the last time and we want to finally have our own habitat and not to be nomadic anymore. We would like to settle down and enjoy the comforts missing, we are homesick! Our new friend, the wind, drives us forward firmly, so we often have to slow down to avoid sharp stones on the unpaved road. And despite all the caution I have several mishaps at the rear tire in less than 10 km.
These last few days are also marked with generous hospitality: we recover from the efforts by good sleep and food at Fernando and María Luisa, the owner of Asador Patagonico, Puerto Natales. They are relatives of Rita and Jaime, who had given us shelter in Castro / Chiloé. Fernanda and Emiliano, the latter is the brother of our friend Fer in Mérida, take us on in their house in Punta Arenas and offer us even a tourist visit to the historic town. Also on the farm Armonia where we arrive before our last crossing of the border, and Leonel in Rio Grande are giving us a warm reception (which is also enjoyable because of the cold that prevails at these latitudes even in spring).

Photo 1: Our friend, the wind, which usually cannot be photographed, is captured here by us.

Photo 2: One of the last things: our last ship that takes us from Punta Arenas to Tierra del Fuego.

Before we make the final leg to Ushuaia, we stop at the bakery / pastry shop of Tolhuin that is just 104 km away from our goal. I already knew it from my first stay in Argentina. At that time I went once a week from Ushuaia to Rio Grande to work with the families of the inmates of the "Comunidad Terapéutica". The small bus stopped in front of the bakery and Patricia, Enrique (my colleagues) and I could not resist the savory pastries. In Mexico, I had arranged with Erik that we would take few sweet things until reaching Tolhuin in order to enjoy everything even more so, but we did not keep to it. During our journey, we heard in Guatemala, Peru, Bolivia and Chile from the hospitality to the cyclists in the bakery / patisserie La Union.

Photo 4: The same sky, like any other sky.

Photo 5: Patagonian forest with Antarctic illusory beeches near the Fagnano Mountain where we drink a good mate and eat tortillas.

We reach Tolhuin with aqueous mouth like the dog of Pavlov and will not be disappointed in the bakery. During the four days we rest and help with the work. We also learn firsthand some of the crafts. We also take a walk on the Fagnano Lake. In the past 14 months we have learned not to think stereotypically and are less biased than before. These are the main findings of our trip.

At noon one day with wind and snow, we continue our journey and reach 24 hours later the town, which has the bay toward the east, Ushuaia. In the morning, before we reach our goal, we say goodbye to Viviana Limache at Escondido Lake. She's a friend from my time here seven years ago, who surprisingly opened the door when we asked for accommodation at the post of civil protection.Photo: Escondido Lake in the background of Fagnano Mountain. My memories deceive me or I have an active imagination. I am  often wrong when I want to tell Erik of events, landscapes or data. I realize that I now see many things differently than seven years ago, after having renewed, according biologists, during this time all my body cells and only my name has remained the same.We are deeply moved when we see the vertical sign with the name of our so much desired goal. Certainly, reaching Ushuaia is not more important than all the preceding stages, but we embrace and thank one another for all the efforts that have made this project possible. I am amazed that we have arrived healthy and expressed of all the experiences that we have gained, or saying it in another way, the experience we now carry on our backs.

Photo 10: The count of kilometers before we cross the last pass of our trip.

Photo 11: Sign at Target.

Recently Erik talked to someone who said that you cannot settle down after having started such a journey. We would like to continue traveling within the meaning of  deepening of our experience that we have made in recent months. And that way we will continue to look at this grandiose world and experience.

DEUTSCH
